What's New in Version
· Readerware now uses column names throughout. It used to use the internal database field names in some places, auto-update for example.
· Readerware (Video) drag & drop could be very slow when adding actors to the database. Problem was worse at sites that provided a large cast list.
· Readerware (Video) can now auto-update Actors, this was missing in earlier versions.
· When adding chapters/disks/episodes to an entry, the new disk is now focused.
· All price fields can now be adjusted up or down by a given percentage using the bulk editor. In earlier versions only the item value could be adjusted.
· An invalid image was causing problems when using the Android sync function. Invalid images are now skipped.
· Updated the Readerware web site search pages used when you select one of the Web->Search menu items. These now use the same look and feel as the main web site.

This puzzle shows what happens when people cling too tightly to ideas they originally thought were "good." Just because one *can* make a grid with "O" as the only vowel doesn't mean one should. The question is—why do it? To prove that it can be done? Just ask someone—any constructor. He/she will tell you it can be done. And you can stop there. No, you say—you really need to Do It. OK, get it out of your system. But for god's sake don't publish it. It's going to be full of the worst fill imaginable. Halfway through solvers are going to be wondering why the answers in this puzzle are so awkward, stale, and dreadful. I mean, has anyone ever seen 
No idea what was going on at first, as the name Jack Warden is pretty meaningless to me (though I've clearly seen his face a lot, it turns out). Also, I say the "wh" in "whack" differently than I say the "W" in "Warden," so the Spoonerism doesn't quite work. Then there's the apparent back-to-back Chicago Bulls answers ... but 
Bad luck today. I just did this puzzle—a much tougher and more entertaining version of it, anyway. If you do Matt Gaffney's Weekly Crossword Contest (and why don't you?), then you did it too (see here). This coincidence is no one's fault. Gaffney tells me BEQ did the same theme back in 2009, but you have to give constructors a little slack. It's sometimes hard to find out if your idea has been done before, especially if it hasn't been in a major publication (something in the cruciverb database). As I say, this is just bad luck. Mainly for me. I like this theme idea. If I'd never seen it before, I'd think it was clever. I don't think the puzzle needed a note. It's Thursday—if I can sniff out a rebus (and I can), then I can figure out what's going on with the clue numbers. Because the gimmick was transparent, and the cluing Tuesday-easy, I finished with my fastest Thursday time in several months. The only problem I had was in the SE. Jack Benny!?!? Wow, there's a bone for ... someone. Not me. Even if I'd realized it was part of the theme (I didn't), I still would have had trouble. Waaaaaaaaay before my time. "
I really love this grid, but the cluing on it gave me fits. I simply couldn't get started. All my gimmes were spread out, and then the cluing was amped up (in most places) to Saturday levels. I had

Sandusky verdict was being read just as this puzzle came out, so I solved it with one eye on the TV and still set what must've been a Saturday record (didn't bother to time it, though, because of distracted solving circumstances).
